Classes

Ballet 2, 3, 4 & 5:

Ballet is offered to ages 7 and up. It provides the fundamental technique and language that each dancer should know. It strengthens both lower and upper muscles that make other forms of dance easier to execute. Ballet also teaches discipline and respect in the classroom.

Dress Code: Any color leotard and tights. Optional ballet skirts tight-shorts or leggings can be worn.  Hair should be securely pulled away from the face.

Shoe Requirements:

Level 2: Leather Split Sole Ballet Shoe (Ballet Pink) Recommended:  So Danca - Mary Jane Tap Shoe Caramel (TA35)

Level 3, 4, & 5: Canvas Split Sole Ballet Shoe. Recommended:  So Danca Bliss Split Sole Canvas Ballet Shoe - Pink  (SD16)Boys need black leather or canvas ballet shoes.

 

Ages 7 & up

Pointe 1/2 & 2/3:

Pointe is for individuals who have had extensive Ballet training and are 12 years of age or older. Pointe takes developed leg strength as well as upper body coordination. Before a student can enroll in Pointe, the instructor must test their strength and approve their eligibility.

Dress Code: Any color leotard and tights. Optional ballet skirt, tight-shorts or leggings can be worn. Hair should be securely pulled away from the face.

Shoe Requirement:  Students need point pointe shoes that are fitted by the pointe shoe specialist and approved by the instructor.

 

 

Pointe 1/2.   Ages 12 - 14.               Pointe 2/3. Ages 15 - 21

Tinies 1/2 Ballet, Tap, Acro:

 

This class is a combo class for dancers ages 3-4. At each class the dancer will explore ballet, tap, and acro technique. Dancers will have fun doing creative movement exercises and an activity at the end of every class.

Dress Code:  Any color leotard and tights. Optional ballet skirt, tight-shorts, or leggings can be worn.  Please send your dancer in footless or convertible tights. Tap and Ballet shoes are required.

Shoe Requirements:  Ballet- Leather Split Sole Ballet Shoe (Ballet Pink) Recommended:  So Danca-Brit Split Sole Leather Ballet Shoe - Pink (SD60).  Tap- Tap Shoe w/velcro or tie (Tan or Caramel).  Recommended: So Danca - Mary Jane Tap Shoe - Caramel (TA35).  Acro:  Barefeet (Dancer should wear convertible or footless tights)

 

Ages 3 & 4

Mighties 1 Ballet, Jazz & Tap:

This class is for 5 & 6 year-olds. They will continue to work on ballet, jazz and tap technique.  And will build on their ballet & tap technique while exploring beginner jazz movement. The time is divided into 15 minute increments.

Dress Code: Any color leotard and tights. Optional ballet skirt, tight-shorts, or leggings can be worn.  Please send your dancer in footless or convertible tights. Tap and Ballet shoes are required.

Shoe Requirements: Ballet- Leather Split Sole Ballet Shoe (Ballet Pink) Recommended:  So Danca-Brit Split Sole Leather Ballet Shoe - Pink (SD60).  Jazz- No Shoe Required.  For this level dancer will go barefoot. (Dancer should wear convertible OR Footless  Tap- Tap Shoe w/velcro or tie (Tan or Caramel).  Recommended: So Danca - Mary Jane Tap Shoe - Caramel (TA35/36).

 

Ages 5 & 6

Level 1 Ballet & Jazz Combo

This class is a combo for dancers ages 6 & 7.  Dancers will continue to work on their Ballet and Jazz technique and build on their balance and flexibility.

Dress Code:  Any color leotard, tights, (ballet skirt or tight leggings are optional).  For Jazz- any color leotard, tank top, dance pants.

Shoe Requirements:  Ballet: Leather Split Sole Ballet Shoe (Ballet Pink) Recommended:  So Danca-Brit Split Sole Leather Ballet Shoe - Pink (SD60).  Jazz- Leather Split Sole Jazz Shoe (Tan). Recommended: Super Jazz Split Sole Leather Jazz Shoe-Tan (S0401)

 

Ages 6 & 7

 

 

Dancers in Black Costumes

Tap 3, 4, & 5:

Students will use their feet to create sound & music. Dancers can use this class to learn basic tap steps or perfect more challenging ones.

Dress Code:  Any color leotard, dance pants or shorts.

Shoe Requirements:

Level 3:  Lace up Split Sole Tap Shoe (Tan)    Recommended:   Bloch Tap-Flex Split Sole Lace Up Tap Shoe-Tan (S0388). Economical:  So Danca Tory Basic Lace-Up Jazz Tap - Caramel (TA04)

Level 4: High Heeled Character Tap Shoes (Tan). Recommended:  So Danca Tara 1/5" Hel Tap Shoe - Caramel (TA55)

Level 5:  Lace-Up Split Sle Tap Shoes (Tan). Recommended:  Bloch Lace-Up Split Sole Tap Shoe - Tan (S0388)

 

Ages 10 & up

Progressing Ballet Technique:

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is designed to enhance students' technique by focusing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance.   Dancers work on body conditioning and strength to help build muscle memory for ballet, focusing on core stability, weight placement and alignment.

Dress Code: Any color leotard and tights. Optional ballet skirts tight-shorts or leggings can be worn.  Hair should be securely pulled away from the face.

 

Shoe Requirements:  Barefeet or socks are appropriate.

 

Ages 8 & up

Small Group in blue glitter leotards

Mighities 1 Acro:

This class is for 5 & 6 year-olds. They will continue to work on Acro technique and build on what they learned in Tinies.

Dress Code:  Any tight fitted athletic tank-top, shorts or leggings:  Leotard or biketard.

Shoe Requirements:  No shoes or tights over the feet for this class.  Barefeet, no socks (Dancer should wear convertible or footless tights)

 

 

 

Ages 5 & 6

Boys Only Acro:

Acrobatic Dance - Acro for Boys Only will focus on basic tumbling skills as well as skills that will focus on improving balance, flexibility, limbering, and strength.  It includes mat work, floor work, and beam.

 

Dress Code:  Athletic wear for boys,

Shoe Requirement:  Bare feet, No socks

 

Ages 4 to 8

Level 1 & Level 2 Hip Hop & Tap Combo

Dancers in YellowThis class is a combo for dancers ages 6 -10. Students will use their feet to create sound & music and their movements to express themselves and emphasize the beat of the music. Level 1 Dancers will learn and perfect basic tap steps and beginner hip hop movements. Level 2 dancers continue to build on their skills and techniques and perfect their movements.

Dress Code:  Hip Hop- Any athletic leisure clothing, can be tight or loose fitting. Tap - Any color leotard, dance pants or shorts.

Shoe Requirements:

Level 1 Tap - Tap shoe with tie or velcro (tan or caramel) Recommended: So Danca Mary Jane Tap Show-Caramel (TA35).  Level 1 Hip Hop - Leather Split Sole Jazz Shoe (Black) Recommended: Super Jazz Split Sole Leather Jazz Shoe-Black (S0401).

Level 2 Tap -Tap shoe with tie or velcro (tan or caramel) Recommended: Tory Basic Lace-up Jazz Tap - Caramel (TA04).     Level 2 Hip Hop - Leather Split Sole Jazz Shoe (Black) Recommended: Super Jazz Split Sole Leather Jazz Shoe-Black (S0401)

 

Level 1 Ages 6 & 7.      Level 2  Ages 8 - 10

Jazz 2, 3, 4 & 5:

Dancers will focus on jazz technique and move at a faster pace than ballet. Students will work on stretching and learning new skills.

Dress Code:  Any color leotard, tank top, or dance pants.

Shoe Requirements:

Level 2: Leather Split Sole Jazz Shoe (Tan). Recommended:  Super Jazz Split Sole Leather Jazz Shoe - Tan (S0401)

Level 3 & 4: Leather Split Sole Jazz Shoe (Tan). Recommended:  Bloch Pulse Jazz Shoe - Tan (S0470L). Economical: Bloch Super Jazz Split Sole Leather Jazz Shoe - Tan (S0401)

Level 5: Leather Split SOle Jazz Shoe (Tan). Recommended:  Bloch Pulse Jazz Shoe (S0470L)

 

Ages 7 & up

Hip-Hop 3, 4, & 5:

Involves a warm-up with various styles of hip-hop (ie. Popping & locking). Followed by exercises across the floor. The class will end working on a combo that they will continue to learn each class.

Dress Code:  Any athletic leisure clothing, can be tight or loose-fitting.

Shoe Requirements:  Black Tennis Shoes (Any brand, Any style)

 

Ages 10 & up

Acro 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5:

Acrobatic Dance, or acro as it is commonly referred to by dancers and dance professionals, is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. Acro technique includes balancing, limbering, tumbling, and partnering, based on flexibility, contortion, and strength. As a dancer begins acro they start with basic progressions. It takes the beginner preschool level dancer from log rolls and sommersaults to the advanced dancer tumbling effortlessly across the stage. Often defined by unique choreography, acro dancers seamlessly blend musicality, emotional expression, line and extension with acrobatic movements in a dance context.

Dress Code:  Any tight fitted athletic tank top, shorts or leggings, leotard or biketard.

Shoe Requirements: Barefeet, No Socks.  Dancer can wear convertible or footless tights.

 

Ages 5 & up (Acro is introduced in the Tinies & Mighties classes)

 

Dancers in Purple, Boys & Girls

Modern 4 & 5:

Modern Dance iis a form of dance which focuses on the serious expression of inner emotions, using a free-flowing, interpretive style, rather than following the rigid rules characteristic of many dance disciplines.  It employs a special technique for developing the use of the entire body in movements expressive of abstract ideas and encourages dancers to use their emotions and moods to design their own steps and routines.

Dress Code:  Any color Leotard, dance pants or shorts.

Shoe Requirement:  Dance paws or foot undeez.  Recommended:  Bloch Canvas Eclipse -Nude (S0619). or Capezio Foot Undies - Nude (H07)

 

Level 4 Ages 12 - 14             Level 5 Ages 15 - 21
